Friday 21st December, 2017.
This morning St Mary’s families gathered in St Mary’s church to celebrate Christmas. The service opened with Seren using her musical talent to play ‘Good King Wenceslas’ on her violin while Reverend Julie lit the candles on the advent crown. Pupils of all ages read us bible verses to illustrate the Christmas story, while children from Maple and Cherry class formed a nativity tableau at the front of the church.
In the middle of the service we were treated to some beautiful music by St Mary’s Recorder Club. Mrs Thomas has been teaching recorder for several months and the Club played Away In A Manger and Jingle Bells. Well done Recorder Club for a fantastic performance.
Rev’d Julie spoke to us all about going on a journey and encouraged us to think about what we need when we travel. Our thoughts then turned to refuges living in Syria and Rev’d Julie asked us to keep them in our prayers this Christmas.
Thank you to Mrs Palmer and Rev’d Julie for organizing such a beautiful service and to Mrs Slowgrove for playing the piano.
We wish you all a very happy Christmas and a very happy and healthy new year. We will see you again on Wednesday 4th January.
