******************************
Years 5 and 6 will be departing from the UK on Monday 30th June for a 5 day adventure in Rue, France. They will be taking part in many outdoor activities, learning how to work as a team, experience a few days away from home, using their French and having lots of fun and laughter.
This trip takes place every other year for children at St Mary the Virgin and the first trip took place in 2012. It was such a success that we have decided to make it available to every child at our school. Because we are such a small village school we send year 5 and 6 together; the year in between the children enjoy weekly activities at Broadstone Warren, situated in the Ashdown Forest, culminating in an overnight camp out.
Our sincere thanks to our staff and parent volunteer who accompanied the children on this trip.
We will be loading daily blogs and videos on this page for all to see. Please come back and check out this page.
DAY ONE – Monday, 30th June
Children left school at 10.15am today on their outbound journey to France. They are travelling by coach and ferry and confirmation has been received (at 5.30pm) that they have arrived safely at Le Chateau du Broutel. Parents – video on the VLE – if you do not know your child’s login please contact the school office.
DAY TWO – Tuesday, 1st July
Children have had a fun day raft building, kayaking and crate building….lots of laughter and lots of screaming! They are lucky to be staying in such wonderful surroundings at Le Chateau du Broutel…they are loving every minute. They send hugs and kisses home.
DAY THREE – Wednesday, 2nd July
Our children have had a great day today, visiting a goat’s cheese farm, a snail farm – where they had nibbles! – and then to the beach at Saint Valery for well deserved ice creams! During their stay in Rue, the children will be using their French they learn at school from Madame Jones, hopefully today they were able to order their cheese and their ice cream using their vocabulary scrapbooks!
DAY FOUR – Thursday, 3rd July
Low ropes, archery, fencing and climbing wall – plus frog’s legs for dinner – it’s been great fun today for our children in France. We are looking forward to seeing them all tomorrow upon their return.
