Today our new Reception children enjoyed their first ever school dinner at St Mary’s. They were all brought to the lunch hall by their Y6 buddies, who showed them how to queue and where to sit. The children were joined by someone from their family, and sometimes a little brother or sister too.
St Mary’s is renowned for it’s delicious lunches, which are made by our school cooks freshly on-site each day. Today was Meatfree Monday and the choices were Pizza or Pasta Bolognese. There was plenty of fruit and a biscuit for pudding.
Our Y6 children enjoyed helping the Reception class use their cutlery, and how to ask for help if they need it. The adults also enjoyed their lunch, and were very pleasantly surprised by how fresh and tasty the food is compared to their memories of school dinners at their old primary schools!!
School lunches at St Mary’s are provided by Chartwells who believe in making school lunch nutritious, exciting and fun. They often have themed lunches throughout the year. There is an example of the current menu at the bottom of this page.
Thank you very much to all the adults from home who came in to join us for lunch today. Thank you also to our Y6 children for helping their buddies and being such a great example at lunchtimes.
