It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to St. Mary the Virgin the CE School, Hartfield. We are a small, friendly, rural village school, situated on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown Forest and home of AA Milne’s Winnie the Pooh.

I am passionate about providing all the children here with a great start in their school life. The experiences and learning that goes on in the seven years that they are here should be memorable and special. We aim to provide all the children with a good grounding in the basics but also to enthuse them with a love and pleasure for new and exciting challenges.

It is also important that that they grow into young people ready for the challenges of secondary school and are confident and proud of who they are. We pride ourselves in the fact that we develop the “whole person” – mind, body, spirit and also the social element. Our children are regularly complimented on how well they behave and how well they all get on with each other. In recent inspections one parent said “The adults in school treat all the children as if they were their own.”
