Welcome to St. Mary the Virgin Hartfield – the small school with the big heart! Set in the beautiful East Sussex countryside our Church of England (Voluntary Aided) School serves families from Hartfield and the surrounding towns and villages. We are fortunate to have a team of the most wonderful children and staff and pride ourselves on putting the children at the heart of everything we do. St. Mary’s is a warm and nurturing school providing an engaging curriculum that can foster a passion for learning, curiosity and self-confidence. We believe everybody is unique and has strengths and talents, that through our school vision of Learning with Love Strength and Faith, following the example of Jesus, we can help them to be the very best they can be. We look forward to meeting you soon.

“My children carry a great fondness for the religious education they receive at school – as we are not religious parents, we know it comes 100% from the school. The values the school promotes are exactly in line with our parent style and we can see that coming through in our children’s behaviour choices. It’s excellent.”
“The values of Love, Strength and Faith permeate everything the school does and the children are encouraged to embody these.”
“I think the links with the church are hugely beneficial to the school and the Christian values and ethos make St Mary’s a very special place. Their Christian and moral values seem to be at the heart of the school.”

“I have found that the curriculum that my child experiences is very strong and engaging...The children are being encouraged and supported in their learning and they are very happy to be learning at this school.”
“It’s business as usual which is always really well organised and with high standards. I feel that they’re all doing a brilliant job.”
